The benefits of drinking filtered water at different times of the day

Eight glasses of water a day? Check.

You’re doing really well if you are drinking the recommended amount of water each day to keep your body healthy…And practicing a good daily water drinking habit.  But did you know that there are thought to be specific benefits to drinking water at certain times of the day?

Let’s take a look at the best times of the day to drink great tasting filtered water…

When you wake up...

When you wake up…drink 2 glasses of water….Why?

It helps activate internal organs…and helps to flush out any remaining toxins before you have the first meal of the day…breakfast.

If you like your coffee first thing, it’s a good idea to swap it for filtered water as coffee acts as a diuretic. This means it’s dehydrating. Not a good way to start the day… Filtered water is a much better idea! It’s what the supermodels do!

Supermodel, Elle MacPherson recently revealed that her beauty secret is to drink a litre of water as soon as she wakes up. She also tells her sons to drink it to help when they feel hungry and tired!

Before & After a Meal

If you drink water half an hour before a meal it will help fill you up and you’ll want to eat less. A good way to keep to a healthy weight.  If you drink it too soon after a meal, it will dilute the digestive juices.

So it’s best to wait an hour after your meal to drink a glass of filtered water.

Before & After Exercise

It’s really important to drink the right amount of water before and during exercise.

It’s a good idea to drink a glass of water half an hour before you exercise. Of course it depends on the workout but drink during exercise and afterwards to make sure that you don’t get muscle cramps or dehydrated. It’s important to recognise the signs of dehydration and avoid them.

A Glass Before a Bath or Shower

Drink filtered water an hour before a bath to help lower blood pressure.

It’s thought that by drinking water it helps to dilute sodium levels in the body. The water also helps to warm your body from the inside while the warmth of the shower or bath dilates blood vessels therefore causing your blood pressure to drop.

A Glass at Bedtime

One glass of water before bed may help to avoid stroke or heart attack. This claim is still much debated by cardiologists.

However, a glass before bed certainly helps to restore fluids lost during the day. You’ll have less chance of muscle cramps. The water also helps the body detoxify during the night. Many people  claim that it helps them sleep better, they are more alert during the day, they digest food better, lose weight easier and generally feel better.

Even better if it’s filtered water straight from the bathroom tap!
